Jesus Sacrifice ceases?

Da 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Jesus is confirming the covenant with those who make a covenant with Him.

During that time He may find that His people have willfully sinned.

When a Christian falls away and willfully sins they become “a man of sin”, 2 Thess 2:3.

2Th 2:3 ¶ Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

When a Christian falls into willful sin God sends them a delusion so that they will believe a lie so that the person can be judged and ultimately corrected.

2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
(KJV)

2Th 2:12 (ASV) that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

The judgment is referred to as “The Day of the Lord”.

Jesus sacrifice will then cease to apply to that willful sin, according to Heb 10:26, and the Christian will not be forgiven.

Heb 10:26 and the time when willful sin occurs is the same point where Jesus causes the sacrifice to cease in Dan 9:27.

They will instead be judged for the willful sin, Heb 10:26.

This whole situation is similar to that of Ahab the King of Israel in 1 Kings 22:22.

1Ki 22:22 And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

Jer 9:7 (MKJV) Therefore so says the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them and try them; for what [else] can I do for the daughter of My people?

They will pass under the rod and in this manner God will bring them into the bonds of the covenant, Eze 20:37.

Eze 20:37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

1Co 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

To illustrate how Jesus confirms the covenant with his followers in Daniel 9:27 it is useful to see the illustrations of God giving the Promised Land into the hands of His people in the situations of Ex 23 and Deut 7.

Ex 23:23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

Ex 23:29 I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee.

De 7:22 And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

Ex 23:30 By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

He will drive out those ungodly enemies when His people have become strong enough or increased to maintain their victory.

Ex 23:31 And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.

Ex 23:32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

Ex 23:33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

For this process to be scriptural God’s people must recognize that there is a reason for the curses of Deuteronomy 28:15 and 45.

If a Christian is not being blessed either they are being cursed due to disobedience or persecuted for right behavior.

Judging ourselves correctly in these cases is crucial, 1 Cor 11:31.
