Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Isaiah 19:1 is an example of the Lord Coming on a cloud.
Isa 19:1 ¶ The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
Is 19:2 says the Lord will set Egyptian against Egyptian.
This is an illustration of the judgment/destruction of Egypt.
The Lord intended destruction for Egypt and His judgment came as a thief in the night. In other words He sent the Spirit of the Devil to bring about His will through the egyptians.
1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (ASV)
He sent the spirit of the Devil to destroy (John 10:10).
Is 19:14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.
He came in judgment not personally, but through the agency of a spirit that promotes war among the Egyptians. Similar to 1 Kings 22:22.
The devil came and set Egyptian against Egyptian and brought destruction Etc.
This event was described as the Lord Coming on a Cloud.
He came through the agency of the devil to destroy Egypt by setting them against one another.
Many mistakenly call the Day of the Lord’s judgment the Second Coming.
It can be clearly said that the allusion to the Lord Coming on a cloud referred to His coming for judgment.
When the thief comes for destruction it is called the Day of the Lord, 1 Thess 5:2.
1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.
So now we see that the Lord’s coming for judgment is being referred to as His Coming on a Cloud.
He however did not personally come, the thief or devil appeared and caused the Lord’s will to be accomplished in destruction, by setting Egyptian against Egyptian.
Now putting this information into Revelation 1.7 where every eye will see Him coming in judgment.
The coming or visitation causes wailing so it is a negative visitation and not a positive one, suggesting judgment.
Whether the allusion to coming “on a Cloud” refers to Judgment each time is unclear, but it is without question in these verses.
Thus as in Isaiah 19:1 neither the Lord nor the thief were actually visibly seen, but the results of the Egyptians fighting Egyptians was seen by all present.
Coming on a cloud seems to be an allusion to the Lord’s Judgment/harvest, in that man at that time reaps what He has sown.
The wheat is gathered into the barn and the chaff burned, Matt 13:30.
So in my opinion Rev 1:7 is saying that every person will see the results of the judgment of the Lord.
