Question

Question – Are the passages from Daniel 9:27, 12:7-10, and Matthew 24:15-21 not describing the same “abominable” force of “desolation”?

Answer – Yes.

The Abomination that brings desolation is “Willful Sin”, Heb 10:26.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries (That which opposes).

Da 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried, but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

The time that Jesus Confirms the Covenant with His (Born Again) people is Daniel’s seventieth week.

The Grace of God teaches each of Jesus’ followers to “Deny Ungodliness” (Titus 2:11-12) during this symbolic period in their lives called Daniel’s Seventieth week.

This is when Jesus Confirms His Covenant with His individual followers.

The term “Mid-week” in Daniel 9 means that at some point or points during that covenant confirmation process, the individual believer will “Sin Willfully”.

Willful sin is the Abomination which brings desolation, Heb 10:26.

At that point, God will have to (as He did with Job) make the individual aware of their sin and then help them repent from the sin.

This is spoken of in 1 Thess 4:13 where a willfully sinful believer is referred to as a “Sleeper”. Jesus descends in a cloud (Is 19:1) and corrects the willful sin.

This time of judgment is called “The Day of The Lord”.

Obedient believers are told (1 Thess 4:15) not to “prevent” or “go before” the willfully sinful Christian. This is similar to the concept of “fleeing” from the Discipline called “The Day of the Lord” in Matt 24:15 and 16.

Jesus Himself will bring about or grant them repentance, and they will be saved from God’s wrath through fire, 1 Cor 3:15 and 11:32. This is similar to Job’s trials.

Matt 24:15-21 tells obedient believers to “flee” or as 1 Thess 4:15 states this command do not precede or “Go before” willfully sinful brethren because Jesus Himself will save them through fire.

This is when Jesus sends the Goats into the presence of the Devil in Hell and the sheep into Joy.

1 Thess 4:15 ¶For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain (The Obedient Christians) who “remain” in/unto the coming/Presence of the Lord shall not prevent/Go Before them which are asleep/Willfully Sinful.

In Matt 24:28 Jesus tells us how to recognize that the judgment called the “Day of the Lord” is about to occur.

When we see a “dead body” (Willfully Sinful Christian) surrounded by eagles or devourers/vultures (Enemies of God) we are to flee to the Mountain, Matt 24:28.

Matt 24:28 For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

This period of “desolation” or discipline is when Jesus corrects the willful sins of His people or “delivers them”, Dan 12:1.

Dan 12:1 ¶And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be “delivered”, every one that shall be found written in the book.

The scattering of God’s people in Dan 12:7 is the threshing of God’s people seen in Isaiah 21:10.

Isa 21:10 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

Then the “End/goal” will come.

1 Peter 1:9 KJV — Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Daniel 12:2 KJV — And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Matthew 25:46 KJV — And these shall go away into everlasting punishment (Mt 25:41) but the righteous into life eternal (Mt 25:21).

The punishment is called everlasting not because the person stays there forever, but because “Hell” was created by God as a punishment for “Eternal Beings”.

The discipline called the “Day of the Lord” is when Jesus tells a disobedient believer to go into the fire (Mt 25:41) and not come out until they have made recompense, Mt 5:26.
