Confusing the Day of the Lord (Judgment) with the Second Coming.
A. “The Day of the Lord” is a time of Destruction/judgment of willfully sinful Christians, Joel 1:15 and 1 Cor 11:32.
Joe 1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. (KJV)
1 Cor 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. (KJV)
B. “The Second Coming” is a spiritual presence, when God restores the relationship between Himself and Man (Mt 17:11), when Jesus is sent by the Father (Acts 3:19-21) to the individual believer when they “look for Jesus”, Heb 9:28.
Mt 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
Ac 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
